Today in Philippine History (Philatelic Edition):
JULY 7, 1892
After learning that Jose Rizal was arrested, a secret council was held in #72 Azcarraga St. In the gathering were Andres Bonifacio, Deodato Arellano (the house owner), Valentin Diaz, Teodoro Plata, Ladislao Diwa, Jose Dizon, and a few others who were all freemasons and members of Rizal’s La Liga Filipina.
They agreed to form a secret revolutionary society called the Katipunan or the Kataastaasan, Kagalang-galangngang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK).
Deodato Arellano became president from 1892-93, Roman Basa in 1893-95, and Bonifacio in 1895-97.
