Gerardo “Gerry” de Leon (September 12, 1913 – July 25, 1981) was born Gerardo Ilagan in Manila and was part of the Ilagan clan in showbiz that included Robert Arevalo, Conrado Conde, Angel Esmeralda, Eddie Ilagan, Ronaldo Valdez, Tito Arevalo, and his daughter Liberty Ilagan.
Manong as he was called was a doctor who focused in show business.
He starred in eight movies then did his first directorial debut in 1939.
He was the most awarded film director of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards. He died at the age of 67.
