JULY 30, 1953
President Elpidio Quirino's health and condition improved after being confined at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
Joseph Kelly, the public relations officer of the hospital announced that "The President rested well last night and his condition is satisfactory. He had a period of difficulty yesterday when there was some internal bleeding. He received several blood transfusions after which his blood pressure and pulse returned to normal and remained so through the night. His condition this morning is improved."
The President underwent several medical tests and examinations upon his arrival in Baltimore on June 30, 1953.
The hospital provided a room adjoining his suite which became his executive office.
He had a surgical operation on July 8 for a stomach ulcer removal.
President Elpidio Quirino was discharged from the hospital on August 15, 1953 and stayed in Washington D.C. until the 24th.
He went home to the Philippines aboard a Philippine Airlines commercial flight and arrived in Manila on September 7, 1953.
