Today in Philippine History (Philatelic Edition):
AUGUST 8, 1901
The Philippine Constabulary (PC) was established by Act No. 175 of the 2nd Philippine Commission to maintain peace and order.
Under Civil Gov. William H. Taft’s supervision, it assisted the US military in fighting the remaining revolutionaries who were labeled as bandits.
Capt. Henry T. Allen of the 6th U.S. Cavalry as its 1st chief was the “Father of the Philippine Constabulary”.
In 1917, Brig. Gen. Rafael Crame became the 1st Filipino chief.
The PC was merged in 1991 with the Integrated National Police and is now the Philippine National Police.
