Cebu Stamp Club's Fabiolita Ferraris

Early in 1996, Fabiolita Ferraris, the dynamic regional manager of Philpost based in Cebu appointed me as the philatelic adviser of the region.

One of the projects I came up with is the creation of a stamp club that would support Philpost in their philatelic promotion.

On August 24, 1996, Cebu Stamp Club was born and became partners with Ma'am Bioly as she and her team embarked on creating school-based stamp clubs all over Cebu and the  promotion of philately and the thrift stamp.

CSCI became a registered non-stock, non-profit organization on January 30, 1997 and she was the guest speaker in the first general meeting.

For her full support to the club, Fabiolita Ferraris, with Membership ID No. M960066 was accorded a lifetime member status 🇵🇭

Gov. Gen. Francis Burton Harrison Issues Proclamation No. 18

Today in Philippine History (Philatelic Edition):

Gov. Gen. Francis Burton Harrison issued Proclamation No. 18 declaring every October 30 as Flag Day and a public holiday.

From September 6, 1907 to 1919, the display of the Philippine Flag was outlawed in accordance with Act No. 1696 or the Flag Law of 1907, “banning the display of Katipunan flags, banners, emblems, or devices and for other purposes.”

Sen. Rafael Palma, taking a cue from Harrison who was against the Flag Law, sponsored a Senate bill that called for the repeal of the flag ban. The bill was approved and became Act No. 2871.

Talent Manager At Work

This was on October 26, 2018 and I was requested to edit a movie script and at the same time, hire actors here in Cebu for a Tagalog movie.

A few days earlier, the executive producer has already talked to two of the award winning actors in the Philippines to be the main cast in the film.

It was not an easy task because the line producer wants me to request these local actors who are expensive to slash down their rates. Her reason, it is an advocacy film.

Good thing I am friends with these top caliber actors and they agreed to cut their talent fees and I am so grateful to them. They agreed not because it was an advocacy film project but because of our friendship. Thank you Ma'am Dulcita Siroy, Charlie Yap, Albert Paran, Alex Ilaya and to the other actors who said yes when I asked them to join the shoot. God is good  ðŸ‡µðŸ‡

Cebu Stamp Club's Danilo Cerence

As a lover of geography when he was a kid, Danny started collecting stamps when he was in grade school in Leyte.

He joined the club in 1997 and it ignited his passion for collecting local and foreign stamps.

He says ”that the passion is more important now that paper stamps may run out of circulation with the advent of digital communications and app-sharing deliveries. So being a philatelist and a member of the Cebu Stamp Club ensures that the good old stamps that was once essential to everyone and a global necessity that we love to collect, will not fade in the world's collective awareness and memory.”

Danilo Cerence with Membership ID No. M970029 renewed his membership today 🇵🇭
