Today in Philippine History (Philatelic Edition):
AUGUST 6, 1898
In Bacoor, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo called a convention composed of presidents from all pueblos in 15 different provinces.
These pueblo presidents who earlier took their oath of office before him were called bosses in their individual towns and represented one half of the total population of the island of Luzon.
The Philippines that time had a 7,600,000 population and 3,800,000 lived in Luzon.
Aguinaldo later issued a proclamation that claimed “that the new government has 9,000 prisoners of war and 30,000 combatants.”
