The Philippine Army Air Corps

Today in Philippine History (Philatelic Edition):

AUGUST 15, 1941

Members of the Philippine Army Air Corps (PAAC) consisting of 2,132 enlisted troops and 275 officers were inducted at Zabalan Airfield in Camp Murphy (now Camp Crame), Rizal.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur accepted the command of the troops, which were incorporated into the United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE).

The Philippine Army Air Corps was created by the Philippine National Assembly’s National Defense Act of 1935.

The PAAC is now the present-day Philippine Air Force (PAF).
