Vicente Silva Manansala (January 22, 1910 - August 22, 1981), a cubist painter, illustrator, and National Artist of the Philippines in Visual Arts was born in Macabebe, Pampanga.
He studied at the University of the Philippines School of Fine Arts from 1926 to 1930.
He got a UNESCO grant in 1949 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Banff and Montreal, Canada.
A nine-month scholarship was awarded to him in 1950 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris by the French government.
Manansala created masterpieces and developed transparent cubism.
