JANUARY 11, 1897
Thirteen Filipino patriots were arrested by Spanish authorities on charges of sedition and treason after Andres Bonifacio, the leader of the Katipunan, led the Cry of Pugadlawin.
Jose M. Dizon, Domingo Franco, Numeriano Adriano, Moises Salvador, Faustino Villaruel, Francisco L. Roxas, Luis Enciso Villareal, Geronimo Cristobal Medina, Antonio Salazar, Ramon Padilla, Braulio Rivera, Faustino Mañalac, and Benedicto P. Nijaga were executed by musketry and came to known as the Thirteen Martyrs of Bagumbayan.
