To mark Australia Day, Australia Post released on January 22, 2009 the Australian Legends of the Screen.
The stamps designed by Adam Crap of the Australia Post Design Studio, feature four Australian Academy Award Winners and paired by the movies that they starred.
These movie icons are Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge); Russell Crowe (Gladiator); Geoffrey Rush (Shine); and Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth, The Golden Age).
"These four outstanding Australians have captured the imagination of millions of people in Australia and around the world with their award-winning performances," Australia Post managing director Graeme John said in a statement.
Each of the stars will be presented with 24-carat gold replicas of their stamps.
