Guillermo Estrella Tolentino

JULY 24, 1890

Guillermo Estrella Tolentino (July 24, 1890 - July 12, 1976), the National Artist for Sculpture was born in Malolos, Bulacan. 

He created the University of the Philippines Oblation monument in 1935. He also did the bronze figure of Pres. Manuel Quezon at Quezon Memorial, busts of Jose Rizal at UP and University of the East, the marble statue of Pres. Ramon Magsaysay at GSIS building, and the Bonifacio Monument that stands in Caloocan City. 

Tolentino also designed the Seal of the Republic of the Philippines and the medals for the Ramon Magsaysay Awards.
