OCTOBER 12, 1868
Mariano Trias y Closas (October 12, 1868 – February 22, 1914), the first de facto Vice President of the revolutionary government established at the Tejeros Convention, was born in San Francisco de Malabon (now Gen. Trias), Cavite.
He was recognized as the elected Vice President with Emilio Aguinaldo as President when the Pact of Biak-na-bato was signed.
He also served as Finance and War Secretary in Aguinaldo’s First Philippine Republic. Trias used the nom-de-guerre “Labong” (which means "bamboo shoots”) when he joined the Katipunan.
