President Sergio Osmeña

SEPTEMBER 9, 1878

Sergio Osmeña (September 9, 1878 – October 19, 1961), the fourth President of the Philippines and the second President of the Commonwealth was born in Cebu City. He assumed the presidency after the sudden death of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon in 1944. 

He was Governor of Cebu (1906-1907), Speaker of the Philippine Assembly (1907-1916), Speaker of the House of Representatives (1916-1922), Senate President Pro-Tempore (1922-1933), and Senator of the 10th Senatorial District (1922-1935). Don Sergio founded the Nacionalista Party.
