Natividad Almeda-Lopez

SEPTEMBER 8, 1892

Natividad Almeda-Lopez (September 8, 1892 – January 22, 1977), the first female practicing lawyer and first lady judge, was born in Manila. 

She finished her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Liceo de Manila in 1909 and got her licentiate in jurisprudence from the Escuela de  Derecho de Manila in 1913. 

She obtained her Master of Laws in 1937 and her Doctor of Civil Law in 1938 from the University of Sto. Tomas. 

Almeda-Lopez was a beacon in the feminist movement and worked for women's right to suffrage. She was a recipient of three Presidential awards.
