Today in Philippine History: General Douglas MacArthur Retreats

MARCH 11, 1942
Gen. Douglas MacArthur escaped from Corregidor in a PT boat and headed for Australia This action was the result of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s order after fearing that MacArthur would be taken prisoner after the fall of Corregidor.
