SEPTEMBER 13, 1957
Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos, Jr., the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines was born on September 13, 1957 in Batac, Ilocos Norte. His parents were President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos and Imelda Romualdez Marcos.
His political career began in 1980 when he ran unopposed as vice governor of Ilocos Norte under the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan.
He was governor of the province from 1983 to 86 and held that office until his family was ousted from power by the EDSA People Power Revolution in February 1986.
They lived in exile in Hawaii and after the death of President Marcos in 1989, they were allowed to return to the Philippines by President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino.
He was elected Representative of Ilocos Norte's 2nd congressional district from 1992 to 1995. He was again elected as governor of Ilocos Norte in 1998 and came back as a representative from 2007 to 2010.
Marcos served as senator from 2010 to 2016 and worked on resolutions that benefitted Filipinos working overseas and on environment projects.

In 2021, Marcos announced that he is running for President of the Philippines in the May 9, 2022 elections under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
He formed an alliance with vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte, the mayor of Davao City and the daughter of incumbent president Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Their alliance, called the Uniteam saw both of them in a landslide victory against their opponents.
He defeated Leni Robredo by garnering 59% of the votes or 31 million votes while Robredo, who defeated him in the 2016 vice presidential election, placed second, with about 28 percent of the total vote.
He became the first to be elected by a majority since the Fifth Republic was established in 1986. He was officially declared president-elect by Congress on May 25, 2022. On June 30, 2022,
Ferdinand Romuldez Marcos was sworn in as the 17th president of the Republic of the Philippines. Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo administered the oath of office at the National Museum of the Philippines.
