President Ronald Reagan Forever Stamp

World Stamp Today:

FEBRUARY 11, 2011

The U.S. Postal Service released on February 10, 2011 a "forever stamp" to commemorate the centennial of the birth of former president Ronald Reagan.

The stamp design shows Reagan at his Santa Barbara-area ranch.

This is the third Ronald Reagan stamp, the first was released after his death in 2004 and was later reissued.

Reagan, the 40th president of the United States was one of the most influential presidents.

“Ronald Wilson Reagan was one of a kind,” said James C. Miller, III, a member of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service. “And it is right that we celebrate his life and legacy with constant reminders attached to millions of letters arriving at homes all across America.”

Reagan was an accomplished actor who appeared in more than 50 Hollywood films prior to his joining the world of politics as a leader.

Endowed with charisma and oratorical skills, he is credited with bolstering the conservative movement in America, moving it from the margins to the mainstream of politics and government.
