MARCH 5, 1906
Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood sent U.S. and Philippine Constabulary troops under Col. Joseph W. Duncan to neutralize Moro insurgents in Jolo who fled to Bud Dajo.
After refusing to surrender, the troops used artillery and machine guns to end the stand off.
The First Battle of Bud Dajo or Massacre of Bud Dajo ended on March 7, 1906 with 600 to 900 Muslims killed including women and children.
