New Zealand’s post office, NZ Post, issues six stamps on March 1, 2023 featuring the 2022 science fiction film Avatar: The Way of Water, which was shot in different locations in New Zealand.
The six stamps, designed and illustrated by Chris Jones of Graphetti Ltd. depict the humanoid characters and imaginative creatures who populate the Avatar film franchise’s universe.
NZ Post Head of Stamps and Collectables Antony Harris revealed, “We are absolutely delighted to be the first country in the world to be releasing stamps and coins with striking scenes from the second installment of James Cameron’s Avatar film series.”
The first film, 2009’s Avatar, became the first film to earn over $2 billion worldwide and is now the highest-grossing film of all time worldwide.
While Avatar: The Way of Water reached a spot as one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time worldwide less than a month after its Dec. 16, 2022, theatrical release in the United States.
