Francis Burton Harrison

OCTOBER 6, 1913

Francis Burton Harrison was appointed Governor General of the Philippine Islands by Pres. Woodrow Wilson and assumed the post until 1921. 

He advocated and oversaw the process of Filipinization and his term saw the passage of the Philippine Autonomy Act or the Jones Law. 

His pro-Filipino stand made him very popular in the Philippines. 

He was the adviser of Commonwealth President Manuel L. Quezon and the first four presidents of the Republic of the Philippines namely, Manuel Roxas, Elpidio Quirino, Ramon Magsaysay and Carlos Garcia.
