A Miniature Sheet for Pope Benedict XVI UK Visit

The Isle of Man presents a two-stamp miniature sheet with label commemorating the beatification of Cardinal Newman and the first papal visit to Britain since May 1982, when Pope John Paul II’s six-day tour drew huge crowds.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown extended a formal invitation to the current Pope and the trip is the first official state visit by a pontiff, as that of John Paul II was on a pastoral basis and did not follow an official invitation by the UK government

The miniature sheet to be issued on August 11, 2010 features two stamps featuring Cardinal Newman and a label image of Pope Benedict XVI.

Isle of Man Railways Set

The Isle of Man is uniquely served in terms of transport. The Victorians left their mark with some of the finest locomotives and trams in existence.

The transport enthusiast can travel the length of the Island by antique means – steam trains, horse trams and electric tram cars are all proudly maintained while the journey takes in some fabulous scenery.

The June 24, 2010 issue features a set of six stamps of the train and electric transport with some stunning images and a collectable souvenir sheetlet.

IOM's History of Manx Coins Set

The history of coins on the Isle of Man dates back 300 years to when the first official Manx coins were cast in 1709 and became legal tender by an Act of Tynwald on 24th June 1710.

They were cast in moulds, probably at Castle Rushen in Castletown, and the reverse side bore the family crest of James Stanley, 10th Earl of Derby. On the obverse is the familiar Manx triskeles surrounded by the old Latin spelling of the motto QVOCVNQVE GESSERIS STABIT, which translates as ‘Withersoever (which ever way) you throw it, it will stand’.

A new stamp issue to be released on June 24, 2010 marks the tercentenary and details the most significant developments in coinage on the Isle of Man over three centuries. Renowned numismatic authority and author Mike Southall MBE did the text and design of the stamps.

Model T Ford Sets

The Isle of Man features the Model T Ford in a stamp issue released on May 7, 2010. The issue is timed to coincide with the 50th Anniversary Tour when the Isle of Man branch of the club will host the event.

With specially-commissioned images from local motorsport artist Peter Hearsey this 6 stamp issue features the once ubiquitous Model T in its many guises.

The Model T Ford Register of Great Britain is dedicated to providing its members with rallies, new and used spares supplies, technical advice, historical research and social events involving Model T Fords.

Britain at War

Another historic stamp issue from the Isle of Man Post Office is the Britain at War miniature sheet of two stamps.

Released on April 20, 2010, the miniature sheet marks the 70th anniversary of operations "Dynamo" and "Ariel" and the Battle of Britain during the summer of 1940.
