MARCH 28, 1521
Portuguese navigator and
explorer Ferdinand Magellan (1480 - April 27, 1521) sets foot on
Philippine soil for the first time in Limasawa Island. He was welcomed
by the locals led by Rajah Kolambu who became his friend. Magellan’s
slave named Enrique made their communication possible by speaking Malay
to the natives.
